2023 SCHOLARSHIPS
The Alumni Association's officers and board of directors met on April 15 to review twenty scholarship applications that were submitted by high school seniors. This is never an easy task with so many deserving applicants. Ultimately the decision was made to award seven scholarships, totaling $11,000. Claire Buelte and Maddie Carmichael were awarded scholarships of $1,500/year for four years. They will be attending UNH and St. Anselm College, respectively. Abigail Stone, who will be attending UVM was awarded a $2,000 scholarship. Amelia Lynch (UNH), Olin Heino (McPherson College), Sara Butcher (Fashion Institute of Technology) and Travis Thomas (SNHU) were each awarded $1,500 scholarships.

The scholarships to Claire and Maddie were awarded in recognition of Bob Barnard '50, Bob's sister MaryJane Sterling '53 and MaryJane's husband Bill Sterling '52, all who have been major contributors to the Association's scholarship fund. Abigail's scholarship was awarded in memory of Dave Shorey who taught math at HHS for 11 years and died of cancer in March.

ANNUAL NEWSLETTERS
Annual newsletters are typically mailed in the late spring. If we have your address and you’re a member of the Alumni Association and have been out of high school for ten years or more, you'll receive the newsletter annually. If you’re not a member you'll only receive the newsletter every five years, on the 5-year anniversary of your class's graduation year.  If we don’t have your address you’ll never receive a newsletter. If you’ve recently moved or if you haven’t been receiving the annual newsletter, please email us your address.  This will help reduce the time spent trying to locate people and will also help to reduce postage costs by minimizing the number of newsletters that are mailed to incorrect addresses.  And please check out the Alumni Search page. You might find your name or the name of someone whose address you know.
Alumni Association Membership
Anyone who attended HHS, regardless of whether or not they graduated from HHS, is eligible to become a member of the Alumni Association. Lifetime dues, which are currently only $10.00, help to offset our relatively small annual operating expenses for such things as the printing and mailing of the annual newsletter and the website. Money received from dues is extremely important for the survival of the Association. So if you are not a member please consider joining to show your support for the Association. If you don’t know whether you’re already a member please contact us and we’ll check our records.  If you graduated from HHS between 1984 and 2010, or in 2015, you are a member of the Association because all classes during those years paid the dues for the entire class.

We Want to Hear From You
The "News" page is always in need of news to keep the website interesting. Our website readers are our "reporters" so please send along your news. If you'd like to serve as "Decade Representative" to act as a collector of alumni news from the decade you attended HHS, please let us know by using the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of this page.

Welcome to the official Hopkinton (NH) High School Alumni Association website!  This is a FREE site so please don't be confused by other sites such as Alumni.com and Classmates.com that may ask you to sign up for a fee.  These are commercial sites and although they may provide a way to connect with former classmates, that's about all they will do except take your money.  SO BEWARE!  However, if you have money you'd like to get rid of, we'll gladly accept donations to our Scholarship Fund or General Fund.

To navigate through the website simply click on the "Home Page", "News/Obits", "Alumni Search", "Odds & Ends" and "Photos" headings above.

To go back to a previous screen please remember to use the left arrow in the upper left corner of the webpage instead of the "X" in the upper right corner of your screen.  Otherwise you'll find yourself having to log onto the website again.

We need your input to keep this website "fresh" otherwise we may be forced to make up "stuff". So please send us news of marriages, births, deaths, class reunions or other important and interesting events in your lives that you think might be of interest to others. Or check out the "Guestbook" feature near the bottom of this page to provide information, ask questions or see the comments of others. And please check out the "Alumni Search" page and help us find missing alumni.

Scholarship Fund
Annual scholarships are awarded to graduating high school seniors in memory of HHS alumni, faculty or prominent Hopkinton residents who have had an important impact on the Alumni Association, the High School and its students or the community. Since this fund was established in 2011 we've raised approximately $120,000 and awarded thirty three scholarships. Being able to award future scholarships to deserving seniors will help maintain a strong connection between the Alumni Association, the High School and high school students. This is very important if the Alumni Association is to survive. So please consider making a contribution. Any amount will be greatly appreciated. If you wish to make a contribution in someone's memory, that will be noted in the list above of those who have recently contributed to the Scholarship Fund.
PLEASE USE THE GUEST BOOK TO LEAVE A COMMENT, ASK A QUESTION OR VIEW THE  COMMENTS OF OTHERS.
Alumni Association's General Fund
Money from the General Fund is used to help support Association activities, including printing and mailing of the annual newsletter, the website and the annual reunion which, at best, is a break even event. Except for donations from alumni, the General Fund's growth is primarily limited to money received from lifetime membership dues. Donations are still needed in order to ensure the long-term survival of the Association. So please consider making a donation. And if you have any suggestions as to ways the Association could raise money for the General Fund please let us know.

* * * * We Need to Find Missing Alumni * * * *
The "Current Alumni List" was added to the Missing Alumni page in 2021. This list, which is organized by class year, indicates whether or not an individual's address is missing and whether or not an individual is a member of the Alumni Assn. IT DOES NOT INCLUDE MAILING ADDRESSES! If you discover that your mailing address is unknown please let us know. If you discover you're not a member please consider joining. Please check out this long list and forward any new address information to Kathy Anderson. And if you're in contact with former classmates on Facebook, please encourage them to visit the website. We can't mail you a newsletter without your address and if we have your address but you're not a member of the Association, you'll only receive a newsletter on the 5-year anniversary of your graduation year.
2022 Scholarship Awards
The Alumni Association awarded six scholarships totaling $8,000 in 2022. $2,000 scholarships were awarded to Madeline Follansbee (UVM - elementary education) and Tyler Baron (Manchester Community College - automotive tech). $1,000 scholarships were awarded to Katelyn Bouchard (St.Lawrence University Lawrence Univ. - environmental science)Emily Fleegle (Virginia Tech - veterinary medicine), Madelyn Houston (University of New England), Kally Murdough (Wheaton College - child psychology).
Approximately 1400 copies of the 2023 newsletter were mailed on May 23 to members of the Alumni Association and all members of the classes of '48, '53, '58, '63. '68. '73, '78', '83, '88, '93, '03 and '08 who are celebrating 5 year anniversaries in 2023, regardless of whether members of those classes are members of the Association. Association members are those who have paid lifetime dues of $10. If you didn't receive a newsletter you're either not a member or we don't have your address. Classes from 1984 to 2010 joined the Association as a group so if you graduated after 2010 it's unlikely you're a member although there are a few individuals who have joined as has the entire Class of 2015.

HHS Boys State Championship teams from the 60's
On January 10, 2024 Drew Dumont '22 interviewed Dave Foster '64, Ray Martin '65 and George Sharpe '66, three captains from the only HHS boys basketball teams to win State championships in 1964, 1965 and 1966. Dick Astles '66, who was co-captain with George, was unable participate in the interview. There were 21 different players on these three teams - five from the Class of '64, four from the Class of '64, seven from the Class of '66, three from the Class of '67 and two from the Class of '68. George, Dick and Wally Dwinnells were the only players to play on all three teams. All three teams, which had a compiled record of 49-4, were coached by Dan Parr who also coached boys soccer and baseball at HHS and taught history, social studies and physical education at HHS from 1960 to 1971. Dan also coached HHS's first State championship boys soccer team in 1964.  These four State championships are represented by the earliest banners on the walls of the gymnasium. You can view the 47 minute interview on the Drew Dumont Show, on YouTube, by clicking on the image below. When the video opens be sure to click on the box in the lower right corner to enlarge the screen. And please consider subscribing to Drew's show and leaving a comment.  There's a link to Drew's YouTube channel at the bottom of the News page.
